Which brand of doors and windows is good? Are system windows really expensive?

The design and development costs of system windows and doors, brand value, and high-performance standards for materials such as steel and hardware—all these factors to some extent contribute to the “increased cost” of system windows and doors. As an integrated combination of high-performance systems, they are more complex than traditional energy-efficient windows and doors. So, which brand of windows and doors is the best? When choosing system windows and doors, there are three key factors you should consider—what exactly are they? Let’s take a brief look at them together below.

Which brand of doors and windows is good?

The brand selection for system windows must align with the property grade. When bidding for system windows, both brand and price should be taken into consideration. Manufacturers of system windows under the same brand offer different product lines; the specific line should be chosen based on marketing positioning and design requirements, and the final selection should be refined and finalized by the system window manufacturer. As a critical and complex project, the system window manufacturer must get involved early to provide comprehensive system solutions, thereby avoiding cost fluctuations later on.

Which brand of doors and windows is the best? Are system windows really that expensive? Let’s take a quick look together below.

  1. As system windows and doors gain increasing market recognition and the market continues to expand, their overall costs are steadily declining. Currently, the basic price of system windows and doors on the market is around 1,000 yuan per square meter, while higher-end models cost over 2,000 to 3,000 yuan per square meter or more. In first-tier cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, real estate prices currently range from over 50,000 to more than 100,000 yuan per square meter. Adding just a few hundred yuan per square meter makes system windows and doors relatively affordable. Although system windows and doors are slightly more expensive than conventional ones, the additional cost per square meter represents only a tiny fraction of the overall housing price. Therefore, to ensure rapid sales of residential properties, many real estate developers can afford to absorb this premium.

  2. Based on the combination of real estate market regulation policies, the state will, to a certain extent, rectify the real estate market, curb housing prices, and introduce a large number of affordable housing units, low-cost housing units, and restricted-use housing units to stabilize the market. If housing supply is not lacking, housing prices will fall and property transactions will stagnate; as a result, real estate developers will have to find selling points in the quality and functionality of their properties. Whoever can sell more residential products that satisfy consumers will enjoy great success.

3. Architectural doors and windows are an important component of a building’s overall functionality and have received considerable attention from real estate developers. Enhancing the performance of doors and windows—and adopting high-performance system windows—will also become one of the key selling points for real estate developers when marketing residential properties.

Which brand of doors and windows is the best? What exactly are the five key performance levels of system windows and doors? Let’s analyze this together below.

  (1) Wind-pressure resistance: Refers to the ability of exterior doors and windows to remain undamaged under the influence of wind pressure. For example, this includes resistance to cracks that don't easily break, damage to structural steel profiles, glass breakage, adhesive failure, and loosening or malfunctioning hardware that could obstruct opening. The performance is graded into nine levels, with system windows typically achieving an average rating of Level 6 (the Meimen 98 series meets the international high standard of Level 9).

  (2) Confidential Performance: Simply put, under the condition that exterior doors and windows are properly closed, the ability to prevent air infiltration is graded into eight levels. The average performance of system windows and doors reaches Level 6, while imported system windows and doors achieve an even higher level.

  (3) Watertight Performance: Under normal closed conditions, the ability of doors and windows to prevent rainwater penetration during rainfall is graded into six levels. The average performance of system windows and doors reaches Level 4.

  (4) Thermal performance: This refers to the K-value mentioned in window and door technical terminology. System windows and doors must meet at least Grade 3 standards (the Meiwén 98 series achieves Grade 7, with a K-value of 1.2).

(5) Sound Insulation Performance: Also known as soundproofing or noise reduction, this refers to the ability to attenuate the propagation of sound from the source to the listener. It is divided into six levels, and system windows and doors must meet at least Level 3 standards.
