Which brand of doors and windows is good? How should I choose doors and windows?

Which brand of doors and windows is best? How should we choose doors and windows? Let’s take a brief look at this together below.

  1. The appearance must be aesthetically pleasing: The paint film on the surface of wooden doors and windows should be smooth and glossy, free from defects such as sagging, bubbles, wrinkles, corrosion spots, dead knots, or broken knots. The wood used for door and window frames should harmonize in both texture and color with the wood and finish of the door and window sashes. There should be minimal color difference between veneers and wood strips, and they must also come from the same tree species.

  2. Doors and windows must be square and free from warping or deformation, and they should align perfectly with the door and window frames. If there is a large gap between the doors/windows and their frames, it’s usually due to improper trimming during installation or an uneven alignment between the door/window frame and the floor. In such cases, you can remove the doors/windows and rework them accordingly. If the door/window frame itself is not perfectly vertical, make sure the shims are properly aligned with the frame boards.

  3. Hinges must be accurately positioned and securely installed: If the hinges are misaligned, it can cause the door or window sash to not align properly with the frame, resulting in stiff or uneven operation of the door or window. To correct this, first unscrew one screw from each hinge, then adjust the alignment between the door or window sash and the frame. Once you’ve confirmed that the adjustment is accurate, tighten all the screws again. If the hinge screws are too short, fail to fully engage when screwed in, or become skewed during installation, the door or window sash may wobble from side to side. In such cases, replace the screws with appropriately sized ones, ensuring that the screws are straight. Before fully tightening the screws, first screw them in about one-third of the way, then complete the tightening process.

  4. The door lock should open and close smoothly, and the two parts—installed on the door leaf and the door frame—must fit together properly. Improper locking can result in the door leaf opening and closing freely. Before installation, remove the bolt plates, use a chisel to repair the latch groove thoroughly, and adjust the bolt openings in the door frame accordingly. Additionally, the door’s opening direction must meet the specified requirements.

  5. Door and window casings must have a substrate: When the window casing is made of fine woodworking board or density board, first secure the substrate to the base joists of the window frame, then nail the trim strips. The door and window casings should be framed with wooden frames, planed smooth and straightened, and then assembled into shape before being installed on the wall. Finally, cover them with the substrate and decorative veneer. Gently tap the side panels of the door and window casing with your hand—if you hear a hollow sound, it means that there’s no underlying fine woodworking board or other base material. In this case, you’ll need to remove the casing and redo it from scratch.

When choosing doors and windows, it’s not enough just to focus on their appearance; you also need to carefully examine from various angles whether the edges and corners are perfectly square and whether the base materials are sturdy. Only by thoroughly checking all these aspects during the purchase can you ensure smooth and hassle-free installation later on.

Which brand of doors and windows is best? How is the operability of doors and windows? The operability of doors and windows is directly related to their hardware accessories—don’t overlook the importance of door and window hardware.

  1. The material itself must be green, free of radiation, and UV-resistant.

  2. Long service life and simple maintenance.

  3. Windows with excellent sealing performance allow you to use air conditioning indoors during hot summer days, keeping the room temperature stable and thereby helping users save significantly on electricity bills. At the same time, when strong winds or sandstorms occur, a large amount of dust would otherwise enter the room—but windows with superior sealing won’t let sandstorms in.

  4. Windows must have excellent flame-retardant properties—especially in high-rise buildings. Flame-retardant doors and windows can keep your employees safer.
